Use your health, even to the point of wearing it out. That is what it is for. Spend all you have before you die; do not outlive yourself.~G. B.Shaw

For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way. Something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. ~Fr. Alfred D'Souza
*"do not outlive yourself".... I fucking LOVE THAT!!! I JUST FOUND THAT QUOTE TODAY AND I AM IN. LOVE.

A man without tattoos is invisible to the Gods. ~Iban Proverb

In one year I am getting married. the first thing I plan to do is get a tattoo. Not everyone will understand this. but I have thought about it for over 3 years.... and I am tired of being so afraid. I feel like this is a whole new start. A whole new beginning. I love it.

Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save. ~Will Rogers, Autobiography, 1949

I just love that quote.
It is so true.
I always thought I would be a workaholic, but I have realized early on that I don't want to grow up to be anything like people who spend late nights at the office. I find it so sad.I ask them what they are doing for the weekend and they say work. That is just not for me. they may make more... but the trade off is not worth it to me.

I will NEVER feel guilty for taking vacation time. (My dad told me that one. )

I will enjoy my job. I will not love it. (There is a very important difference)

I will keep my job and my personal life separate. (no work FB friends)

I will never choose work over family. EVER.

Do you have any tips for keeping a balance in your life?

"Every one of us is called upon, probably many times, to start a new life."

source?
"Every one of us is called upon, probably many times, to start a new life. A frightening diagnosis, a marriage, a move, the loss of a job... And onward full tilt we go, pitched and wrecked and absurdly resolute, driven in spite of everything to make good on a new shore. To be hopeful, to embrace one possibility after another - that is surely the basic instinct... Crying out: High tide! Time to move out into the glorious debris. Time to take this life for what it is." - Barbara Kingsolver, High Tide in Tucson

Always waving back....

You don't really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around -
and why his parents will always wave back.
~William D. Tammeus
(this is probably one of my favorite quotes EVER.)

all images from My parents were awesome....
I think the worst thing you can do is take your family for granted. They are your people, they are who you are defined by; they are how you define yourself. Don't forget that this Christmas. Remember to tell your parents that ... they are awesome.
* I know the holidays can be hectic.... this is a little reminder for you... but mostly me.

"Sometimes the happy doesn't bubble up with joy, but rains down gently in tears."-

This is a quote that has really helped me with the loss of my grandmother. I think it rings true for so many people. Sometimes I find myself crying not only because I miss her but because I am so incredibly thankful she was a part of my life. I feel so blessed in so many areas of my life and I am lucky to have such a strong family.
So sometimes I cry because I am sad... but I mostly cry just because being happy is not a Strong enough emotion for how intensely thankful I am.
Quote from 'A Promise Kept' by Robertson McQuilkin.
