Flipphandle Bike Designed by Alejandro Lacreu - - Allows to Turn Handlebars 90° to Line up With the Frame

Flipphandle Bike Designed by Alejandro Lacreu
If you've ever fought to store your bike in a hallway, on a train, or anywhere where space is at a premium, you've probably cursed your handlebars. So necessary while in motion, on a parked bike they turn out to be remarkably cumbersome, sticking out as they do. But a new design, the Flipphandle, does what its name says: it allows you to turn the handlebars 90° to line up with the frame, without turning the front wheel. Problem solved.

We've featured a lot of clever ways to store bikes, from a shelf that holds books and bikes to a system that puts the bike at the top of a light pole, to making robots do all the work. These ideas all work to mitigate the cumbersome nature of a parked bike, but the Flipphandle is the first design (apart from folding bikes) that makes the bike itself easier to store.

Designed by Alejandro Lacreu, the Flipphandle, which on its own looks resembles the hilt of a lightsaber, replaces the handlebar stem and can be installed on any bike. Check out the promotional video:

But while the Flipphandle is ready for production, it needs to raise capital before it can hit stores. So check out their Kickstarter campaign- a $75 donation will get you your own Flipphandle, and get rid of your bike storage problems.

Unmanned Systems North America 2011: Chinese Company AEE Tech Unveiled F50 Drone

Shenzhen-based Chinese firm AEE Technology Co. unveiled its small drone, F50, at world's largest robotics trade show in Washington hosted by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International that features robotic hardware from around the world.

With the introduction of F50 China has already stepped in the market of drone technology being used for military and security purposes around the globe. F50 drone, relatively small, short-range drone with a high-definition video camera, might be the best tool for monitoring protests, or responding to building fires.

State-run and private Chinese companies have invested a great deal in recent years in developing drones both for export and for China's military and domestic security needs.

AEE became the first company from China to display its products at Unmanned Systems North America. In a small booth on the edge of the showroom floor, Wendy Wei, the firm's overseas sales department manager said the company was looking to drum up international sales—and potential orders from military and police customers.

Vivitar 690HD Pocket Cam - - Enjoy Underwater Video Shooting Being Within Your Budget

It’s pretty easy to record video footage these days. Almost every phone can do it, and since most people aren’t more than a few feet from their cell at any time, you can bet that there’s always a camera around. However, if you want to shoot some video underwater, you’ll have a little more difficulty. After all, the worst thing you can do to a camera is drop it in water (well, a blender might be a little worse). For these times, you might consider the Vivitar 690HD Pocket Cam.

This rather boring-looking 720p camera would fall into the realm of “ordinary” if not for its amphibious nature. All you’ll need is an SD card (it only comes with a paltry 8MB of internal memory) and you’ll be ready to venture into the depths of the sea (or at least the pond out back). What’s really interesting is that you will only have to spend $60 on this gadget. If you’re wanting to shoot underwater without spending a lot of cash, I’d say this is the way to go.

smartCAM by Denis Kalinin - - Fish-shaped Point and Shoot Camera

When you really think about it, the way that 99.9% of cameras are designed invites an awkwardness of use. It isn’t until you consider concepts like the smartCAM by Denis Kalinin that you really become aware that there may be a better way to take pictures.

Instead of holding your digital device, leveling it with your other hand and carefully pressing the button as not to upset the shot, this cutting-edge camera allows the user to embrace the artistry of photography once again. The fish-shaped gadget features a sensitive lens at the end and a tapering point where you can grip it between your fingers.

Essentially, you hold and move it as you would a paintbrush. Simply swipe the scene in front of you with the smartCAM by Denis Kalinin, and the image will instantly be registered by an optimized ergonomic fashion.

Hi-tech UNICEF Trick-or-Treat Box - - To increase fundraising using mobile technology

This year is going to ring in a new wave of charity options when it comes to the Halloween season thanks to the new and improved UNICEF Trick-or-Treat Box. It has officially received a high-tech upgrade via an embedded Microsoft chip that allows potential donators to give even more online than they traditionally do through the availability of loose change around the house.

Hi-tech UNICEF Trick-or-Treat Box

The idea behind this hi-tech UNICEF Trick-or-Treat Box came from a Microsoft and PSFK-sponsored study that looked at ways to increase fundraising using mobile technology. Although UNICEF is still working out all the kinks, the basic concept is pretty much in place: Users scan the Microsoft Tag on the side of the boxes with their cell phones, which brings them to a special website featuring activities for kids as well as educational information about where UNICEF’s dollars are going. The option to donate more will also be on the website.

Dual Cam Dashboard Camera - - For Front and Rare View at the Same Time

This Dual Cam Dash Camera is designed to shoot and store video from both the front of your vehicle and the rear which means you should be totally covered in the event of an accident or road rage incident. As is usual with this sort of product, don’t expect awesome video quality, and I’m not sure I’d be totally comfortable using it to back up, but hey, it’s an interesting thing. $85.99.

Find it difficult to prove you innocent during the traffic accident? This Dual CAM Car Dashboard Camera will help you a lot in this situation. With two camera lens installed, it will help you capture video both in front or back of the car. At the same time, you just watch the LCD screen while backing your car since the video will be showed.

Smart Radiation Detector: Connect it with Apple iPhone Audio jack and Check the Radiation Levels Around You

The devastating combination of earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March this year, led to the most concerned event of nuclear reactor breaches that if gone unchecked could have resulted in a much higher casualty rate than the calamity itself. Learning from the experiences of Chernobyl and the breached Japanese nuclear reactors, a team of scientists and researchers has come up with a rather interesting product. The all new Smart Radiation Detector, is a small sized variant of the globally recognized Geiger counter and has been designed specifically for the Apple iPhone. Suppose you are in Japan and wish to know about the radiation levels permeating in the air, you can now get that information without having to spend enormous sums on a Geiger counter. The Smart Radiation Detector connects effortlessly to the iPhone’s audio jack and will instantly detect Beta and Gamma radiation levels.

Smart Radiation Detector

This incredible new iPhone accessory can also be used with Apple iPod Touch and iPad devices and the entire concept has been based on the utilization of PIN Photo-diode. This new technology, essentially eliminates the need of costly Geiger-Muller Tube and the detector itself has been designed to fit neatly in a matchbox or FRISK mint-box. The Smart Radiation Detector will be available for a mere $50 and the radiation detection application for iOS devices is available from Apple Apps Store for just $5. The project is currently under funding phase at KickStarter and the group envisions the development of 1000 plus units after gathering about $4375, which will be invested in the manufacturing as well as calibration testing processes.

Video and Photos - Aquaskipper: Have Fun with Human-powered Watercraft

I love to have fun with water, especially in the hot summer days. Here comes the new way to enjoy on the water surface other than boats, skis, inner tubes, surf boards, jet skis and even good old-fashioned swimming.

Aquaskipper: Have Fun with Human-powered Watercraft

The pictures above introduce all new human-powered water skimmers from Gadgets and Gear Online Store and dubbed as ‘Aquaskipper’.

What you have to do is just climb on board, and start jumping. The spring from your jump will give it the necessary power to propel you up to 17MPH across the water’s surface. Of course, should you get tired and stop, the Aquaskipper will lose balance, and tip over into the water.

Aquaskipper: Have Fun with Human-powered Watercraft
The Aquaskipper's patented design, hydrofoil wings and fiber-glass spring let you fly across the water by hopping up and down. Hydrofoil wings have very little drag in the water. Plus, the aircraft aluminum frame weighs a mere 26 pounds.

So take on the surf. Try new tricks. Race your friends. And turn heads everywhere you ride.

If you have still some doublts in your mind you can see this amazing watercraft in action in the video below:

Air Condition Bed Mat Soyo - - Perfect Solution if You Got Problems with Your A/C

I’m rather strange, in the fact that I like the fact that it is summer when I’m outside, but I much happier when I’m inside and it is winter. The weather is enjoyable outside in the summer months, but when I’m sleeping, I tend to get very warm. Even when the air conditioning is on, I still find myself too hot under even a single blanket or sheet. That’s why I like the idea of this Air Condition Bed Mat Soyo.

This mat lies on your bed, under you, and does its best to absorb your body heat throughout the night. There is meshing on one side, that absorbs air from the rest of the room, while a fan on the other sucks it through, allowing it to disburse the hot air and keep your body nice and cool. It’s only about half the size of your bed, so it’s efficiently cooling the most important areas. While I would love to have one of these, I’m not quite sure if I could justify the $270 price tag. I suppose it would depend on just how much I’d save from not running my A/C so much.

Everlast by Chinavasion: The World’s First Dual Battery, Dual SIM Mobile Phone

A latest addition to the Everlast; the world’s first dual battery, dual SIM mobile phone. The quad band handset also features a .3 megapixel camera, microSD card support, MP3 radio, FM radio, Bluetooth and Java on board. Oh and the batteries are hot swappable without switching the phone off!

Sure the specs won’t match the kind of killer stuff we’re seeing from big brand smartphones nowadays, but if you’re in the market for a super long life mobile phone (particularly if you’re travelling away from power sources) or for a configuration which effectively gives you two completely separate phones in one case, then this is the puppy for you. Better still, it retails for a paltry $47.64/£29.04. Total bargain, eh?

Two batteries, two status indicators, one amazing phone – that’s the Everlast. The extra power source is immediately ready, which means when one battery completely drains out you are automatically switched to the other one, letting you continue your conversation. Even better, we include two more backup batteries (4 batteries total) that can be replaced without powering off the phone.

Sony Officially Annouces Two New Tablets (S1 & S2) Powered by Android 3.0 Honeycomb

Sony has now officially announced two new tablets; which were initially buzzed around the web in February this year and tablet fanatics were anxiously waiting for the rumors to turn into reality.

The two tablets are called the S1 and S2 with the S1 having a 9.4 inch screen. The S2 has dual 5.5 inch screens which can be used as separate screens, or as a larger single screen if desired. It’s also worth mentioning that the S1 and S2 names are not the launch names and instead are just the code-names being currently used by Sony.

The operating system running on each tablet will be Android 3.0 Honeycomb although this will be customized to suit the PlayStation integration seen on some Sony Ericsson devices recently.

Each is capable of connecting to WiFi and up to 3G and 4G networks.
“Android 3.0 is a new version of the Android platform with a new holographic user interface that is designed from the ground up for devices with larger screen sizes, particularly tablets. I’m excited about “Sony Tablet” as it will further spur the development of applications and network offerings which users are looking for,” said Andy Rubin, Senior Vice President, Mobile, Google Inc.
The S1 is unique in that it has an off-center of gravity that makes it feel more stable and lighter to hold.

Pricing hasn’t been made known just yet, but a release date of fall 2011 will be when you can pick one of these tablets up.

In Pool Exercise Bike - - Its more about exercise than having fun in water

For those who want to bike but also want to be in the pool at the same time, this In Pool Exercise Bike combines the best of both worlds.

The In Pool Exercise is more about exercise than having fun. This underwater two-wheeler is designed to help build strength and endurance with less strain on the body. In fact, this is apparently what professional cyclists use when they’re in training. The bike also has a LCD monitor (which is waterproof, of course) that displays time, speed, distance and calories burned so that you keep track on your status. For those wondering, the company says that it’s made from “durable nylon, ABS, and fiberglass,” guaranteeing that the device won’t rust in the pool.

Devon Tread 1 Watch: Contains Four Compact Microstep Motors - - A Unique Wath With Price Tag of Around $22,000

Having a watch is somewhat or a rarity anymore as most of us have cell phones to check the time. There are a still some people out there that would feel naked without a timepiece to sit upon their wrist. If you are one of those few, you know how difficult it can be to find an interesting watch. Even harder still is to find one that is unique. Well, the search for individuality is over, but it comes with a price tag of around $22,000.

While you’re catching your breath and trying to figure out how many other things you could buy with that money, you might want to hear why it has a phenomenal price. This Devon Tread 1 Watch contains four compact microstep motors that power several glass-nylon belts that will turn to give you the date and time. The exasperating amount of time that went into this wristwatch likely makes the price tag feasible enough already, but there is still more to it. The steel case around this complex design is scratch-resistant bulletproof polycarbonate. It may be a tad pricey…but it’s a lot more interesting than something that is simply dipped in gold and covered in Swarovski crystals.

Days have gone when a lot of labour of grinding and dishing has to be done for just a single cup of coffee. Now the time is to enjoy a cup of coffee in a futuristic way with Dolce Gusto Fontana.

This futuristic espresso maker is another addition to the Nescafe family, and offers yummy combinations from pre-infused capsules. Choose your cappuccino, mocha, americano or hot chocolate, slip in the satchet, and with the flick of the button your hot, roasted brew is ready.

Where the technology behind this device is not essentially unique compared to competing products, the industrial design of it is quite aesthetically interesting. The coffee machine has been molded to the shape of a C and seems to beam down your delicious bean drink. The Dolce Gusto Fontana comes in black, white and red, serving up both efficiency and attractiveness.

Nokia E-Cu: Designed by Patrrick Hyland - - A Copper-coated Cellphone Charged by Heat in Surroundings

It is very frustrating when you realize that you forgot to pack your cell phone charger on your business trip. The one you borrow from your colleague turns out to be another make and doesn’t fit your phone. Those are the times when you really wish you had a phone that did not require a charger. You are not the only one so Nokia E-Cu concept phone has been developed that need not be plugged in to be charged.

Designer Patrrick Hyland has developed the phone that can soak up energy from any heat source. The designer is confident that the phone would work off the warmth of your pocket also. The phone will charge itself if kept someplace where the temperature ranges between 86 degrees and 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Initially the phone will take seven hours to be charged fully. After that it will simply keep charging itself if it finds itself in sufficiently high temperature.

There is a thermo generator in the phone that converts heat into electrical energy. The phone has been encased in copper with engraved heat sinks to collect and conduct more heat for the phone. The shimmering copper coating enhances the look of the phone as well. Nokia has no immediate plans to manufacture the phone commercially but Hyland is open to collaborate with anyone who is convinced about its commercial potential. It could be termed a green phone if you consider the saving in terms of chargers not produced and the electricity they consume being plugged in all day.

Celluon EvoMouse: New Generation of Computer Mouse - - Laser Beam Mousemat Which Reacts to Your Finger Movements (Video)

The Celluon EvoMouse is a rather clever little gadget that does away with the need for a mouse and replaces it with a laser beam mousemat which reacts to your finger movements. Just point at the desk (or other flat surface) with your finger and the beam will transfer your movements onto the screen as cursor actions. Pretty neat.

It hooks up to the computer via Bluetooth or USB port and responds to double clicks, drag/drop, multitouch zoom & rotate and the other usual mousey activities. Could be very neat for those with RSI problems too, we guess. And what about handwriting recognition and signatures etc? There’s no official word on pricing, but I seem to remember seeing a target retail of between $70 and $90.00.

With the evoMouse, your finger is your pointer and there is no more pushing around a physical mouse. The evoMouse works on nearly any flat surface and requires very little space. It tracks effortlessly to your comfortable and natural movements. With the evoMouse, you can perform common mouse operations using only your fingers. You can control the cursor, click and select, double-click, right-click and drag with basic hand gestures. The evoMouse also features multi-touch functionality including scroll, rotate, zoom, forward and back. The evoMouse can even be used for handwriting recognition with your finger or a pen.
