Fouts explains both the conceptual basis of his work: "My sculptures do not have any deep meaning, they are created only to people looking at them, smile!"  Nancy is digging in a drawer and closet in his apartment, finding some things out there, combining them together, giving them new meaning and function. Hong Yi Creates Portraits with 750 Pairs of Socks

Last time we saw Shanghai-based artist Hong Yi, aka Red, she was painting a portrait of Asian pop star Jay Chou with rings of coffee stains. The artist known for her unconventional painting materials and methods is back with a portrait of famous Chinese film director Yimou Zhang made of socks. The large-scale monochromatic sock portrait is held together with pins and propped up with bamboo sticks. Using 750 pairs of socks, adding shadow and depth with a black, white, and gray scheme, the artist reproduces the face of one of her favorite directors over the course of three tireless weeks. 11 more images after the break...

The Art Of Coloring Of Vintage Pictures

After the invention of photography it became clear that its main problem is lack of colors. So masters who coul colorize photos for exhibitions and print publications were found really quickly. The history of this craft, that became a high art, deserves a separate large study. Since colored photography was invented people colorize only history photos to "bring" them to a modern audience, enhance the sense of reality. In spite of all the "wonders of Photoshop" today, as before, colorizing the picture to full similarity with the color photography is almost impossible. But some virtuosos are sometimes almost succeed.

Pictures of Bottle Caps

American artist began painting at the age of thirty years and is a self-taught. Almost ten years have seen a case, which defined the main direction of her work for years to come. Molly Bee Wright (Molly B. Right) was born in North Carolina, but in the age of six moved to Charleston in South Carolina. Live and work here so far. One day, Molly drew the attention of the rusting iron sheet. The artist decided to use it to create a picture, but as a halo for copies of the "Shroud of Turin," she decided to use the bottle caps. The idea is very pleased and the next year Molly has created several works consisting entirely of covers. On one such artist in mosaic leaves from three to seven thousand caps. Finger and Palm Print Paintings — Zhang Baohua

 In 1989 Chinese artist Zhang Baohua invented a new style of painting which requires the artist to use his finger and palm prints to create unique works of art. It’s hard to believe such masterpieces can be created without any tools, but Zhang Baohuang manages to do it by using just his fingers and palm prints. His unique painting style is characterized by a concise, lively style and a sense of reality, and is considered a combination of traditional Chinese painting and the structural features of Western painting. World Map of Computer Chips

UK-based artist Susan Stockwell recently completed this gigantic world map made from recycled computer components for the University of Bedfordshire. Entitled World, the piece has been in progress since 2010 and uses motherboards, electrical wiring, fans, and myriad other components donated by Secure IT Recycling. Although Stockwell has worked with electronic components for additional projects, her work with paper is also extraordinary and has been making the rounds quite a bit.
