Our Save the Dates!

We began the 'Save the Date' cards with the idea of using old postcards and stamps in someway. Like every idea- it evolved. The first step to the wedding save the date evolution was stepping into this huge craft store with Justin. Wow... it is a whole other world. We went crazy. So the simple postcard and stamps evolved into...postcard...where we water paint the sky onto the background... using liquid frisket we will create the silhouettes of mountains... then we will emboss two green trees on the front... then we will create a personalized 'save the date' and " info" stamp... then emboss those stamps onto the card.... We will then hand STENCIL each address. My reasoning?!?!??!?... there where only 26 families coming and I can do 26 of ANYTHING. So this is what I have been working on.... I love how they look all together!

A normal person would have a system. I didn't. I would paint outside/ inside/ in the grass. Anywhere. (sometimes I purposefully don't have a system because things just are not as fun and personalized without some craziness mixed in and I do it to freak people out who like systems. It's the truth.)

Yes, That is a paint pealing gun... we pulled out the big guns for embossing... really Justin just figured go big or go home and this is what we came home with. NOTE: Not really recommended that you go that big for embossing. :) He liked embossing, while I painted.

FINAL PRODUCT:

Needless to say, it was a lot of work, but I loved it.THIS is what I love about planning a wedding. I love that they were homemade because I wanted everyone to get the feel of the wedding from the start. It is just us inviting them to celebrate. That's all.

Art is the only way to run away without leaving home. ~Twyla Tharp

we are packing today
and
the amount of art we have in our house seriously blows me away.
(My mom is an artist and we get alot of stuff from her.) We currently have three boxes full and it looks like we have not even touched most of the hanging art..
oh well.. I love it!

"The only sane place to see art in America."Henri Matisse

Please go see THE ART OF THE STEAL tonight. It is a tragedy in the art world that I think needs to be witnessed be the public masses.
The Barnes foundation may just be " The last sane place to see art in America." Henri Matisse
My personal opinion : Art should not to be traded or bought. It is not a commodity that produces culture. It is, in a sense, a cultural experience in and of itself.
