When it comes down to it - the best birthdays are spent in the backyard and the most memorable boat trips are spent on the dock.

We had friends over for a birthday celebration and we spent much of the day doing this..

 Then we headed off to the San Juan islands!

It was a PERFECT day.

The dogs even came along -
right in the middle of all that fun we blew a belt and had to be towed in.

So we went exploring this tiny town.

We got tired of walking the dogs, so we tried to teach them to walk each other.

I could think of worse places to be stuck for 5 hours.

As the sun was going down the boat was fixed and we were off!

In the end we simply headed home.
