I'm not really sure when I decided to make Justin a stocking but I realized that he is the only one in our family that does not have a homemade stocking . In previous years we had transformed a store bought stocking (that we usually used for the pet stocking) for Justin. (Yes, our pets get their own stockings, don't judge. )
So not only did I decide to make Justin a stocking... I decided to cross stitch this stocking! (No kidding!) Given I have only cross stitch ONCE before in my LIFE and that was a square inch ornament I made for my dad when I was 12 on one of those color coordinated hard plastic cross stitch for beginners kit.
So here I am googling " How to cross stitch" and watching old ladies on youtube show me how to back stitch. All this from a girl that doesn't even sew on her own buttons and has no idea how to operate a sewing machine.
It is only little "x's" right? How hard can it be? (Let me tell you... it is all in the counting of those little squares!!! ) So as a practice this year I am making him a cross stitch ornament with a "homemade stocking to come" note. Glad I am practicing first . I have already learned a lot. Justin stays I am a natural. We will see.... Given that I have already converted the snowman's hat from a top hat to a cowboy hat due to miss counting squares already. I can see this is a HUGE undertaking. My grandmother cross stitched my stocking so I know it is possible. Wish me luck!
